What is the capacity?

The capacity is the ability of the battery to supply current to an external circuit.

What is the cold cranking amperes(CCA)?

CCA is the discharge load in amperes which a new fully charged battery at -18°C can continuously deliver for 10 seconds and maintain a terminal voltage equal to or higher than 7.5V (EN).

What is the reserve capacity?

Reserve capacity rating is expressed as the number of minutes which a new fully charged battery at 25°C, can be continuously discharged at 25 amperes and maintain a terminal voltage equal to or higher than 10.5V (EN).

What is the battery life?

The battery life is the length of acceptable performance received from a battery, measured in years.

What is the maintenance-free battery?

A maintenance-free battery is a flooded battery that does not require addition of water.

What effect does extreme heat have on a battery?

Extreme heat causes the evaporation of water faster than under normal condition. This heat also causes the damage of the positive grids.

What effect does extreme cold have on a battery?

The cold greatly reduces the amount of power. At -18°C, the battery delivers only about 40% of the power it would at 20°C.

How often should the battery be checked?

During exploitation should be checked the electrolyte level at least once a year for TORNADO, CYCLON CALCIU , once in 9 months for PILOT, once in 3 months for TERRA, once in 3 months for MAGMA. Electrolyte level should be 26 ± 2 mm over the plates for all types of batteries. A lower electrolyte level could be adjusted only by adding distilled water, never sulphuric acid or top water.

The state of charge indicator on the top of the battery shows battery state of charge and electrolyte level, as following:

  • Green: good level, charged battery
  • Black: good level, discharged battery
  • White: low level, requires distilled water

How should I choose the battery?

Look in the car manual, which battery matches the vehicle model, or look in the retailer's battery application guide.

What happens if I use a higher CCA battery?

When the battery has a higher CCA, this cranks the engine faster, especially in cold climate, but the charging system is not damaged.

What does it mean if I have to replace two batteries during one month?

If the battery performs well on a load test, then something else is wrong. You should check if:
- the battery matches the vehicle's model
- you have made modifications at the vehicle, like air conditioning, radios and so on, which need extra power
